Paper dolls have a stable cardboard core. The outfits change — the school clothes, the party dress, the armor, the costume someone else cut for you — but the figure beneath stays whole. You are built the same way. The outfits are your roles, personas, moods, and public presentations. The core is the part of you that was there before any of them, and remains after each one is set down.

Configuration™ is the practice of choosing those outer layers on purpose instead of inheriting them by accident. Over five movements you will excavate the core, witness the outfits you are currently wearing, dissect where they came from, and configure a set you actually want to be seen in — then carry it into ordinary days.

  1. I

    Excavate

    The Core Beneath the Cut-Outs

Find the figure that every outfit hangs on.

  2. II

    Witness

    The Outfits You're Wearing

Name the presentations you currently put on — without grading them.

  3. III

    Dissect

    Rumor Alchemy

Take one outfit apart and trace its seams back to where they were sewn.

  4. IV

    Configure

    The Configuration™

Choose, on purpose, the set of presentations you actually want to be seen in.

  5. V

    Integrate

    Public Hem, Private Seam

Carry the configuration into ordinary days — and keep a version that is only yours.

A note on care

This is reflective work, not clinical care. Some movements ask you to look at painful or shaping memories. Go at the pace your nervous system allows, skip anything that does not serve you, and reach for a therapist or trusted person if the work opens something that needs more than a page can hold.
